Methods of Uninstalling IE8 in Windows XP

It would be the first time for most of us to use or install the Internet Explorer 8 (Beta). Due to the compatibility problem with other software, some of us had to change it back to the Version 7.But when the one is on the way of uninstall of the IE8, the IE8 Beta could just not be found in the Add / Remove Programs List in the Control Panel. There is no uninstalling option directly. As a result, we do some searching a bit on the net, and the same problem could be found common, and this would not be only found in Windows XP, it would be also found both in the Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 meeting the experience of such problem. The effective solution may be more than one, we are offering the following general approaches to summarize as following:

1. Uninstalling directly from the Add / Remove Programs List , this would be the most common used method of uninstalling the IE8 and other programs. And we think that this is required to be used for uninstall of the IE8 within this way firstly, which most of the Windows users are searching for on the net.

2. Uninstalling from the Update List. For the Windows XP SP(x) system, we would open up the “Add / Remove Programs in Control Panel, and then select the panel at the top of the “Show Updates”, which could be found in the Internet Explorer 8 (Beta) updating item, then delete it.

If the above two methods cannot help us to achieve the purpose of uninstalling the IE8, we can also try the “Add / Remove Programs” function on the left of the “Add / Remove Windows Components”, then tick the mark off in front of Internet Explore item, then you can go on with the next-to-next steps. However, this method is strongly not recommend to be used, because the strong incidence relation could be found between the normal Windows programs and the Internet Explorer 8 program, and this way will completely uninstall the Internet Explorer 8 off from the Windows system, making other normal programs of being in the state of dependency out of run.

3.In fact, there is an another way to uninstall the IE8, that is directly running spuninst.exe file in path of C: WINDOWS ie8 spuninst .If you could not have found it, then you should check that if the hidden attribute of it had been ticked off. This would be of being some risks.

There is another safer and more effective method offering here.We strongly recommend the Windows users to run the uninstall IE8 software listed as follow, a smarter IE8 uninstall tool with complete uninstalling function, and then you can install a different version into the system with being of more compatibility.How-to-uninstall-program can automatically fix the uninstalling problems and the related uninstall errors. More, if there could not be an icon for Internet Explorer on your desktop, the method would be the right clicking on the Desktop, then choosing the Properties of the Desktop ,and then going to the Customize Desktop Item, then ticking the hook in front of Internet Explorer. if this option is out of being chosen, you can also run the “Add / Remove Programs” in the “Control Panel” to change the Windows Group Component, then tick the mark in front of Internet Explorer , with the next-to-next steps on it,the IE icon would come back to the your desktop finally.
