How Do I Uninstall Microsoft Virtual Machine

This article is applying to:
* Platforms: Windows 2000, Windows XP
* Browsers: Internet Explorer 5.5, Internet Explorer 6.x
* Version of Java: 1.4.2_xx, 1.5.0

Manual Uninstall Microsoft Virtual Machine Solution:

Check Microsoft VM Is Installed

1. Open Internet Explorer browser.

2. Click Tools> Internet Options> Advanced to display Internet Options dialog box.

3. Check whether Microsoft VM have listed upon.

4. If Microsoft VM would have been listed, you can go on with following ways:

* Request Microsoft to provide Microsoft VM utility uninstall tool

Or

* Using command line instructions to uninstall the Microsoft VM

If not, your system hasn’t installed Microsoft VM.

Method One: Uninstall Microsoft VM within Manual Way

1. Click Start> Run.

2. Enter RunDll32 advpack.dll, LaunchINFSection java.inf, UnInstall

This is displaying Microsoft VM Uninstall dialog box.

3. Click Yes to confirm.

4. You are prompted to restart your PC.

5. Restarting your computer, then you’d go to the system root directory.

For example,Windows XP system root directory is c: WINNT,Windows 2000 system root directory is c: WINDOWS

6. Delete the following files or folders from the system root directory:

* Java folder (located in the system root directory)

* Java.pnf file (located in the system root inf folder, if present)

* Jview.exe and wjview.exe file (located in the system root system32 folder)

7. Click Start> Run.

8. Enter regedit to display Registry Editor dialog box.

9. Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Java VM

(Hint: right-click on the + icon)

Registry Editor would be displaying registry key of Java VM located in.

10. Delete Java VM registry key.

11. Go to:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Internet Explorer AdvancedOptions JAVA_VM

Registry Editor displays the registry key location Java_VM

Note: Registry Editor displayed by your system may differ from the one shown above.

12. Delete JAVA_VM Registry Key.

So far, Microsoft VM has been removed from your system.
